Tiny Mouth, Offcenter SOLD

Here was on of the pieces that I sold last night, but scrolling through my artwork to place a "SOLD" beside the post, I realized that I never posted it to my blog!  I created it back in June or July.  Here she is, and now she is off to a new home.

Phyllis D's Pearly Whites

I had an art show today, and can I be honest?  I wasn't looking forward to it.  I knew it wasn't the right venue for me.  It was more a craft fair, and I can't compete in price with low-ticket items when I'm making original art that takes me hours, days, months to complete.  Anyway, I woke up at 1 a.m. and tossed and turned for an hour until I got up and painted this one.

O.k., I worked on it BEFORE I went to bed and then finished it in those wee hours.  It was a rough day and included two losses that I just cannot write about here.  Some things are too close to the heart, no?

Suffice it to say, I am drinking a Spanish wine as I type this and will be going to bed early.  I was also right about that craft fair, by the way.  But I did get a wonderful compliment towards the end of it which bolstered my artistic spirit.  My eyes feel heavy right now, unlike this lady's below.  Let's just focus on her joy, shall we?

Red Dot

Hmm.  Still using my phone to take pictures, putting into Instagram and posting to Facebook and then snipping onto my hard drive and then reposting to my blog.  Gotta get that camera working correctly!  I humbly say, I think my art work isn't showing off to the best of its ability with my roundabout posting approach.  I'll get back to it.  Although, I do notice I have a lot less hits from a certain area in the world now that my images aren't as sharp as the camera would present... hmm.

Anyway, this portrait actually has a much more vibrant, apple green in it than this picture would suggest, and I think a lot more detail.  Nevertheless, here is "Red Dot" as I can best represent her at the moment.

At The Party

I took 3 or 4 more pictures of this as it was developing and as I layered more color, but I took them on my camera rather than my phone.  I blame it on being nearly 1 a.m. when I did so.  You see, I lost all my camera formatting when I had a virus and I can't find my installation disks to set it aright.  Ah well, I really haven't looked everywhere yet.

If I get it together, I will add the developmental stages!  Until then, here's "At the Party" in it's finished, painted form.

Starburst

Very happy with this one.  It's full of different mediums, but I like how the oil paint gives a luminous glow to her most of all.

Under the Shade

Under the Shade

She thought she had pulled a shade down on her past,
but sometimes a flickering mood would strike her,
and she found herself thinking about him.

Double Talker

Up until after midnight, I still had that feeling inside that I had to draw something.  This girl emerged.  One mouth wasn't enough for her.  She's a double talker.

Fingers smudged and smeared with charcoal, clock close to 1 a.m., and the sinking knowledge that I'll have to be getting up in 5 1/2 hours, I still feel better for having brought her forth into the world.

Woman in Her Blossom Hat

A little bit of time plus the following equals this little lady:  Piece of extra paper, oil, pastel, ink, glitter, charcoal, acrylic, watercolor pencil, and heavyweight paper from a bar of expensive soap I bought from Anthropologie.  Yes, it's true!  I like to use it all!  (See, when I say something is "mixed media," well baby, you better believe it's super mixed!

I recently cleaned off my entire desk, and then found I was stymied.  I need all my "stuff" around me and easily available.  Being organized does not work for the way I work!

I think this lady is much prettier in person.  You can't see the purple glitter that well in her face, but it shimmers in reality.
