Here was on of the pieces that I sold last night, but scrolling through my artwork to place a "SOLD" beside the post, I realized that I never posted it to my blog! I created it back in June or July. Here she is, and now she is off to a new home.

Red Dot
Hmm. Still using my phone to take pictures, putting into Instagram and posting to Facebook and then snipping onto my hard drive and then reposting to my blog. Gotta get that camera working correctly! I humbly say, I think my art work isn't showing off to the best of its ability with my roundabout posting approach. I'll get back to it. Although, I do notice I have a lot less hits from a certain area in the world now that my images aren't as sharp as the camera would present... hmm.
Anyway, this portrait actually has a much more vibrant, apple green in it than this picture would suggest, and I think a lot more detail. Nevertheless, here is "Red Dot" as I can best represent her at the moment.

Mimi Liked to Match Her Accessories
A friend of mine, who frequently changes her glasses, recently acquired a funky red pair. I thought I'd pay tribute to them in this piece of art.
Mimi was in love with her new red and white eyeglasses. She thought they added just the right amount of pizzazz to her face. Yet...something was amiss. She liked to match her accessories, and nothing in her jewelry box went with her new specs. In fact, no bangle or bauble could she find to make her visage sublime. That was until, she found a pair of springtime white gloves in a bottom drawer. Why, these will do the trick! And indeed, once those soft, snug mitts of refinement were on, she pulled her entire look together and was a vision of springtime loveliness!

This Was Not His Usual Red
He took a sip from his glass, and then another. What the hell was this? Some insipid Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon? He let the offensive liquid dribble out of his mouth. Such insolence would end his new butler's employ, that was certain.
This was not his usual red.

Phone Call in Red
I found myself, one recent hazy day after watching an old movie, wanting to experiment with painting in one color. I wet down some Bristol paper quite abundantly and used only red. At the last minute, I added a smeary pastel of yellow to mimic the glow from old fluorescent bulbs. The result satisfied my meandering mind and momentary meditative need for quietude. Ah, how I love alliteration!

Day 308. Gida Finally Revealed Her Hair Color Secret - No Longer Available
Friends had begged her to reveal the secret to her captivating hair color, and finally Gida gave it up: "Eggplant," she said with a glint in her eye. All bad girls knew it was the most daring of colors, even rivaling jet black. It said to the world, "That's right, I'm beautiful, and I'm not afraid to be noticed."
But how did she get those variances in shade, some violet, some lavender, some almost red? At that question, Gida shook her glossy strands. She wasn't about to give away all her secrets!
That purply-red hair color (I call it black bing cherry, too) is my all-time favorite. My friend, Shelley, always colored her hair that color in college and throughout her twenties and early thirties. Here's a gorgeous picture of her with her first child, Lucas. I'm including a pic. of her (with a bit darker shade) and her second baby, Quincey, just because Q-girl is so darn cute!
Currently, my co-worker Lisa has colored her hair the same color, and it looks fabu on her, too. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of Lisa, but I do know that about a week ago some man followed her around the store and stopped her to tell her how awesome her shade was.
Sadly, being the super-pale-faced chiquita that I am, I can't pull it off. They've got the right skin-tone, you see...and an endless supply of eggplant. (-;
