Ah, this is a personal favorite. I wasn't quite sure how to convey the word creepy without evoking some haunted house scene. I think I might have got it...

Peppermint Oil in the Eye
I hadn't been feeling well the past few days so I'm playing a little catch up. Anyway, Saturday, I was trying to be all homeopathic and was trying to open a bottle of peppermint oil in order to inhale for my lungs and ingest for my upset tummy. In a strange turn of events which seems only possible for me, I instead splattered the oil into my eye! With hands shaking and eye burning, I tried to rinse it with water. Once I finally was able to open it, I can tell you that it certainly was wide awake (and rimmed in red)!

Peekaboo with a Wandering Eye - SOLD
Peekaboo with a wandering eye emerged over many days. Most of the time my art will come to be right away, and other times, images just whisper to me. Those drawings or paintings lay around for days or weeks or even a few months, although rarer. They silently stare at me, and I stare back at them, and I'm not sure what they'll become. Sometimes they tell me in a burst and other times they emerge slowly, bit by bit. This critter was one of those creepers. And I like its sweet creepiness.

Eyeglasses
I meant to post this last night, but I was tired! Well, I was just talking about how much I love eyes in my post on ceramic artist Cory McCrory (which I just posted about 10 minutes ago!), so this will go along with the eye theme of the day, I guess!
P.S. Here's a testament on how your artwork never turns out the way you plan it. This started out as something completely different...how can I explain? When I first painted it, I was going to call it duck heads and craniums in cherry sauce in a drawer. Does that tell you anything? Ha!

Day 4 of 30 Eye to the Apple
Eye To The Apple
Philomena gave her apple a crunch
one bite down, a little snack to munch,
But something didn't seem quite right
with this red orb,
with this red orb,
a sourness was afoot,
a strange flavor, that to this discerning lady, did very much off-put.
What a complete disappointment!
Her diet now had a gustatory fly in the ointment.
Was it a sign to eat a sugary sweet...
was her willpower really that desperately weak?
"No, I will persevere!
My tongue may already be accosted
my hunger irretrievably frosted,
but with my sight this problem I must grapple."
She raised her glove-covered arm and put her eye to the apple.

Day 168. Raindrop Right In The Eye - Summer Camp drawings (SOLD)
More events from Summer Camp Music Festival (see my first post on it at Day 153 - This Is One Crazy Party - http://livedrawpaint.blogspot.com/2013/05/day-153-this-is-one-crazy-party.html).
I took a little drawing tablet with me and tried to record some of the images before me...got a raindrop right in the eye when I was looking up, too.
Girl with super-short shorts on. People looked like they were hiking through Mount Kilimanjaro with their rain gear and staffs to get them through the mud. Someone had what seemed to be a 6 to 8 foot long caterpillar on a stick that they kept stabbing into the air to the beat of the music.
Someone's face.
It was about 50 degrees, cold and rainy, with lots of bare male chests and lots of people toting hula hoops around. Little guy exhausted in the corner.
Just some characters. The most common facial hair at the event, and a corgi-husky mix-breed dog. Somehow I didn't post the pics of that dog on facebook. I may draw/paint him anyway, and post the photo later.
All the chiquitas were wearing these diaphanous, multi-colored scarves around their bodies with gold coins hanging off of them.
These dudes moved their tent into the super muddy field. I guess it was the tent that would later sleep in...bad idea, man. It ended up being covered in mud and kept almost tipping over. They had to keep holding it both down and up to prevent it from toppling. Not a good way to watch a concert. Twirling umbrellas were everywhere. Here's also a guy who was wearing one of those old paper Burger King looking crowns.
This girl was directing the crowd: "Oh yeah, oh yeah," she kept saying, to the beat of the Avett Brothers.

How it started--you can see one of the drawn raindrops smeared by a real raindrop!
