Collar, Striped White

Collar, Striped White

I should be working on an accounting class I'm taking, and of course, all I want to do is draw and paint and visit with friends and not do accounting.  It's not that I don't like it nor feel great satisfaction when everything balances.  It's just that there's so little time in life, and I just want to put color to page or canvas more than anything.

Here's a brewery--Tangled Roots Brewery--which I went to with some friends this weekend.  The son of my former boss is the head brew meister, Meister Brewer. (-;

Burp Mortification

Carla felt out of place at the party, so when a cute guy offered her a few swigs of a hip, imported European beer, she eagerly took a few, hoping to cement her cool quotient.  She never once thought of the aftereffects, a quite audible burp from the fermentation of her bottled brew.  Carla knew she had blown it as her potential life partner lifted his eyebrows in surprise and started to edge away.

She would have skulked away, but he had left her the bottle, and it was quite tasty.  Besides, she thought, staying to finish it would help her get over her burp mortification.

Day 343. Why Is This Potato So Smart?

I went grocery shopping tonight and came across a starchy genius.  Meet the one and only:
Smart Potato!

I actually walked past this dude, but his magnetic personality pulled me back.  My mind started to reel.  What made this spud so smart?  Was he that way right from the start when he was nothing but a sprout?  Did he excel in nursery school back when he was a tater tot?  Does he have more "eyes" than the average potato so he can read more vociferously?  Was he able to skip grades and double-major in college so that in comparison to the average complex carbohydrate he lived two lives in one, in essence, achieving the rarefied distinction of being not just once, but rather twice-baked?

I'm sure this brown brilliance descended from Mr. Potato Head.  I never realized it before, but that's why that game's emblematic head was so big--he had a lot of smarts up on top!

I initially feared this tuber was genetically-modified for brilliance, but it's packaging says, non-GMO, which I'm going to believe.

The Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, in his comic opera, "The Bartered Bride" sang this of beer:

You foam within our glasses, you lusty golden brew,
Whoever imbibes takes fire from you

Will the same happen to one who imbibes, or rather eats, these valedictorian tubers?  Suddenly we will become lumpy-looking Mensa members?  Ah, ha, ha!  I'm going to find out!  Baked brains, you are mine!  Ratchet up the IQ!
