Octavio had had enough. I mean, how much could one cephalopod take? His entire body and been stuffed into a pot filled with water, watching this "Chef" slaughter friend and family member, one after another, so that he could feed his customers. He knew he might lose his life, taking this fat cat down, but he had no other choice. He had to make a stand for all other invertebrates in the world!

Day 352. Hector Wanted to Be a Pastry Chef
The busy Christmas season was just beginning, and already Hector felt despondent. It wasn't that he didn't like children and the joy his elfen creations would bring to them. It was just that he dreaded working on the assembly line and the potential delight his toys might bring just wasn't enough to elicit happiness within himself.
All he ever wanted to do was become a pastry chef. He yearned to make cream puffs, spritz cookies, and poppy seed rolls. Since Mrs. Claus had the corner covered on these sweets, he was relegated to working on the toy line. Every year all the elves watched, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," and every year, the only character he could remotely relate to was Hermey, the misfit dentist elf. He knew that show was make-believe, but couldn't he, too, have the chance for true happiness by following his pastry passion? After all, he really couldn't put together one more Barbie doll. They were so skinny, anyway, certainly never someone who could truly appreciate a well-made plum tart.
He was determined to make a break. Either that or he'd have to challenge the boss's wife, and that certainly wasn't going to go over well. Upon this realization, he fell even deeper into depression...until, until he somehow stumbled upon the quote from Chris Guillebeau, "You don't have to live your life the way other people expect you to." And with that string of words, his heart pounded a little harder. He felt the tiniest flicker of hope, not enough yet to turn his smile upside down, but then again, all it takes is an ember to start a roaring fire--or a convection oven to make croissants. (-; He didn't even know it, but he was already on his way.
