Day 311. When the Planets Align

A little magic came my way today.  Noah Scalin kindly featured the blog of yours truly on his website (including a big long ramble from me--you know I'm wordy-ha!).  Here is the link:  http://makesomething365.blogspot.com/2013/11/a-painting-or-drawing-day.html.

If you are unfamiliar with Noah, he created 365 skull images (really 366) in a year and then wrote a book about it ("Skulls"*) followed by three more:  "365: A Daily Creativity Journal:  Make Something Every Day and Change Your Life!"; "Unstuck: 52 Ways to Get (and Keep) Your Creativity Flowing at Home, at Work & in Your Studio"; and most recently, "The Design Activist's Handbook: How to Change the World (Or at Least Your Part of It) with Socially Conscious Design."  He also appeared on Martha Stewart's Show with his skull project.  Talk about someone who breaks the rules and forges ahead into new territory! Ha!  Love it!  He is also an activist--check out his publications and website to see all the incredible work he's doing. (http://www.amazon.com/Noah-Scalin)

Now, you know, sparkling days like these are often few and far between, and frequently you think you're getting nowhere and spinning your wheels and what you're doing is pointless. But in the words of Prince, "I'm here to tell ya', there's something else..."

And if you keep working hard,
and all the planets form in some crazily appropriate alignment
and you feel bubbles bursting from your heart,
life can be amazing! (-:

Day 1 Merry Christmas to me."No I Didn't Eat It."

I decided to give myself a Christmas gift...an early New Year's Day resolution, if you will.  It's a promise to make a drawing or a painting a day for one year.  Uh huh.  I'm doin' it baby.  There's been lots of 365 day projects.  I first one I had heard about was in 2007 with Noah Scalin making a skull a day.  See his website here,  http://skulladay.blogspot.com/p/about.html, for more information.  He made a book about it, "Skulls," which is out-of-print, but available at amazon here:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1600593755?ie=UTF8&tag=skuaday-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1600593755

Anyway, Day 1 for me (Christmas Day) was this little ditty--"No, I Didn't Eat It."  Seemed perfect for all those Christmas treats that somehow find their way into our mouths.

Off we go!
