Chastised Charles and His Paper Hats

During school, Charles was chastised for constantly constructing paper airplanes and hats. Nonetheless, he could not stop, and he continued in obscurity with his paper-folding ways. That was until a head designer for Issey Miyake saw the genius in his origami at a small fair, hired him on the spot, and forever changed his shame into worldwide fame.

Day 24 Dreaded Weekend Delay Due to Paper Cutter Gone Wild

During college, I worked at a Kinko's Copy Shop.  Ah, yes, Kinko's!  I actually had a lot of fun at that job.  I usually worked the late shift, sleeping until 11, going in at 1 p.m. and getting off in 10 p.m.  A friend at the time worked on a school newspaper, and when she would get off, we would drive 2 hours for a piece of pie or to see a band.  Sometimes we'd get home at 6 a.m., but it was all worth it, driving through that midnight air and darkness with the radio blasting!

I digress!  Anyway, the Kinko's gig was good at the time, but that paper cutter always freaked me out! I always thought I would accidentally stop thinking about what I was doing, and then suddenly cut off all of my fingers.  Luckily that never happened, but to this day, those machines seem to be the penultimate of a potential--unintentional--bloodbath!  Not sure what got me thinking on that train of thought, but here you go.

Day 21 Smooth Operator

Did a little experimenting on this one.  He's so slick and cool, he cuts himself up!

Just A Guy

Paper and charcoal.  If I were limited to only two art supplies, these would be it, and I would be a happy gal.

Persevere, Never Fear

I think this beautiful Japanese Proverb is appropriate anytime, but especially these days.

Blown

Just felt like painting in oil.

Outdoor lighting.  You can see bits of paper I've added to the painting the best in this version.

In my art room.  This one is larger at 18" x 24".

Below is a close-up taken not with filters or photo-editing, but rather in my dining room with turquoise walls.  Isn't it amazing the varying results in different lighting?
