Party Dress

I just can't seem to pick up shimmer and shine with my camera or phone.  I spent a very long time on this--it has beads and glitter and tissue paper and acrylic, and two kinds on enamel, and...well, you get the point.  I went out to eat with a very good friend of mine, the last bit of the post-Thanksgiving weekend, and everything is now twinkling with Christmas decorations.  The holiday is working its way into my art.

There's my friend Cindy, or Cinderella as I call her, in the background.

Pierogies and Street Tacos--fusion food, baby!

Expectations

I actually am so proud of this one.  I like how the pen reacted against the pastel/acrylic/marker, almost in a hiccuping type of way...hmm.  That sounds pretty strange, but it's the best way I can describe it.

I am a huge lover of color, but I think I like the starkness of ink of paper even more.

Day 30 Mover and a Shaker SOLD

Today is actually day 31, and I do have something for today, but I better post yesterday's first.  I will catch up on the weekend, hopefully!

I just don't have enough time to get everything done that I need to.  Anyway, without further ado, here's a Mover and A Shaker.

Flying Thinker - SOLD

Flying Thinker

This art on cardboard has everything on it--oilstick, ink, acrylic, watercolor, crayon, enamel, glitter.  What can I say...it went through many transformations.  I had the painted cardboard sitting around for about a year.  I used it as a paint palette for another piece of artwork I had been working on.  As I was cleaning up from my other project, I looked at this piece and liked the splotch of black ink on it.  I had an idea and just kept working it until I got to this finished piece.  Actually, this angle doesn't show it well, by the two faces work separately as well as together.

Around the World in Three Ways

Around the World in Three Ways

I was thinking about how the world looks differently at every stage of life, from inception to old age.  How your viewpoint changes, how your demeanor towards fate changes...  It's not an admonition, but just observation, at how one's viewpoint evolves through age.  This started out solely as watercolor, but then I added oil and ink.

Rising Temperature

Here's a late Friday night decompression painting.  After I took the photo I added some shimmery sparkle into that heavy black area on the left in order to break it up a bit.

Back Off, Bird!

Here's an experiment of combining drawing styles, using cutouts, and different media à la Jonathan Twingley from Danny Gregory's and Koojse Koene's Sketchbook Skool.  Buy his book, "The Badlands Saloon:  An Illustrated Novel" here.

This is a big one 18" x 24" Not sure if I'm done with it yet...

Draw while staring at my computer desk--yes, it's a mess:

Ben Harper Inspired

Inspired by the cool style of Ben Harper.  A little collage and mixed media to honor him.

Here's a slice of gentle groove for this chilly evening.
