Wedded Bliss by the Numbers (Not Available)

I just finished making table decorations for a friend's upcoming wedding.  They'll simultaneously act as cake decorations for miniature cakes at each table as well as signify the table number.  They took way longer than I thought they would, but I love the results, plus, she's a sweet friend and totally worth it. (-:

I primed the surface by gessoing it once on one side and twice on the other.  Once dry, I painted them with non-toxic, pearlized (some matte) paint.  I free-handed the numbers in India ink, painted the interior of them with several coats of white paint, and then once again, I repeated the outline in India ink.  Each number is painted a different color on each side.  I then added 3-dimensional pearlized paint--white ice on one side and a shimmery gold on the other side.  I'm a little in love with them! Day 362. Wedding Details (SOLD)

True story.  Super sweet friends of mine saw the wedding of their daughter this past summer.  Relaxing before the walk down the aisle was to commence, the minister approached mother and daughter, sitting on a couch and sharing this joyous, precious moment together.

He asks, "Alecia, can I see your license?"
The bride replies, "Oh sure, my driver's license?"
The minister swallows hard, "No, your wedding license."
The bride says brightly, "Was I supposed to buy that somewhere?"
The mother-of-the-bride gasps, "Oh my Lord!" (but really it was spicier than that. (-;)

The wedding took place, despite the hitch (ha!), and all that legal stuff was taken care of in a brief, later ceremony.  Details, details!  Who can keep track?! (-;

Day 285. Do You and Do You? We Do.

"Do You and Do You?"
"We Do."

Someone asked me to describe my process, and sometimes, like with this painting, it's hard to describe.  This was supposed to be about my friend Cindy and me hanging out at Starbucks on Friday night after we had went out to eat.  I was telling her that I felt my "out-of-body me" was floating above us thinking, I'm having so much fun!  Instead, I smeared paint all over the canvas, and as often happens, I saw a face in the paint--it was the man.  I could see the eyes of the woman, too, but not her whole face.  The minister started as just a back of a head, and the wedding guests/parents/attendants/what-have-you, I completely drew in.  I didn't see it as a wedding party yet; rather, I saw it as a group of people...somewhere.

By this point, Cindy and I had long been forgotten (I'll have to do that one another time.)  I wanted something on the bottom of the canvas so I drew the girl's hand.  But then I could see a shadow and space above it, and thought, he should be holding her hand.  At some point after that, they suddenly became newlyweds.  This development happens all the time, which makes it hard to describe or photograph, step 1, step 2, step 3.  Sometimes magic just happens on that canvas even when you start out with a plan.  (And sometimes it's hard to pull anything out of that stark whiteness, and that's when you despair and think you're completely depleted!  Anyway, that's not the case for this snapshot of marital bliss. (-;)

Day 173. Congratulations, Rachel and Chase - Wedding Day Part 2 (No Longer Available)

O.K., so on the other side of this gift box (see Day 172 if you don't know what I heck I'm talking about) I have a portrait of Rachel and on a third side, a little happy bearer of congratulatory wedding bliss!  Congratulations on your new journey, lovebirds!

I can tell I put the lid back on the box here--there's a little bit of a shadow at the top. I love the cute little diamond wedding band!

Here's the 3rd side (I actually added a few more crystal accents on this side, but my camera battery is recharging right now so I'll give you the first picture I had taken):

Here it is from 2 angles at I time.

Day 172. Congratulations Rachel and Chase - Wedding Day Part I (No Longer Available)

My 2nd cousin (my cousin's son) is getting married today.  I had gotten a friend of mine, Kim Herout, to make something for them--I won't post what it is now for fear of ruining the surprise.  Anyway, I needed something to put these delicate somethings into, and they needed a box for their awkward fit.

I'm wandering the aisles of Target, and low and behold, I saw something that would work!  A file folder container on clearance.  Hmm...what could I do with this!  My mind, it be a spinnin'!  My brain started sparking, and well, you can see what I can up with below.

How it started:

Complete with a man's wedding band...

and boutonniere, of course.
