Works on Paper Art Show
Here are some photos of the art show I had earlier this month entitled, "Works on Paper." I'd say 98% of what you see was completed in 2016. Not everything is shown here, of course, but you can get an idea. I only showed unframed pieces this time around. Also, the half of the pics are ones I had taken. Half, including the close-up shots, were taken by other people. I apologize for repeats. I wanted to acknowledge the contributions of others who were there. Every media is here: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, ink, and mixed media. Hope you like it. (-:

Dead Flowers
Thinking about the Rolling Stones' song, "Dead Flowers."
I mean, I drew this, and about 7/8's of the way through, as I added the sparse flowers, I thought, "Dead Flowers."
This is one of those times that the drawing came first and at the last moment merged with an idea. I started this out last night by smearing coffee all over the page. I don't know what anyone thinks about it, but it's one of my very favorites. I like the sparseness of line drawings.
Is the woman old? Is she young, but her facade is breaking? Is she dying? Is she a heroine addict? Maybe she's on the flip side--breaking though her shell and coming through. There's some sort of breakage going on--I feel that.

Ambidextrous Coffee Drinker
Hmm, I seem to make a lot of images relating to coffee, probably because I love it so. I have given it up on occasion, but that heady aroma! It's so enticing. I try to resist, but then I'm slowly drawn back into caffeine addiction and it's world of oily, dark brown beans once again.
Really, it's just another art form, no? The different types of beans, how soil and rain affect it, the temperature and pressure used to extract the black liquid from the grounds, the beauty of the latte design. There's so much pleasure in it, why would ,I or the other billion people who drink it, want to deprive ourselves? We don't. (-; Nor would this ambidextrous coffee drinker.

Take Two
This piece was actually the first piece I did after I finished the Inktober prompts. I'm just a little out of order in posting. It felt good to use color again, albeit, I still used a muted palette.

Tiny Mouth, Offcenter SOLD
Here was on of the pieces that I sold last night, but scrolling through my artwork to place a "SOLD" beside the post, I realized that I never posted it to my blog! I created it back in June or July. Here she is, and now she is off to a new home.

There Once Was A Man from Greece
There once was a man from Greece
who through his instrument would keep the peace.
He played a mean fiddle,
while calming the crowds little by little,
until any animosity would totally cease.

Inktober Day 31 Friend
In keeping the spirit of the Halloween holiday, I give you "friend."
I did it, peeps!! All 31 days, woohoo!
Now on to Halloween happenings!
Here's my boss's daughter with her man and their daughter. Soooo cute! She found the idea on Pinterest and executed fabulously, I think.
Driving on Halloween, I came across this enormous flying witchipoo! She's taller than the streetlight on the right.

Inktober Day 29 Surprise
I have to admit, I pondered upon this for awhile. I figured there would be a lot of people doing a surprise party or a birthday gift, I mean, that was my immediate thought. All along I have wanted to interpret these words in my own way. Here's when a surprise might not always be a pleasant one.

Inktober Day 27 Creepy
Ah, this is a personal favorite. I wasn't quite sure how to convey the word creepy without evoking some haunted house scene. I think I might have got it...
