Lost

I had been feeling disheartened for a few days.  Part of it had to do with the gloomy weather we had been experiencing, which is strange, because I actually love rainy, gray days.  It probably was a combination of things, but that was the background for this emerging portrait I had drawn last night.

LOST

Below, I put the portrait behind the doors of a bookcase, giving it a slightly different story.

Headband in Oil

Well, I just couldn't leave my "headband" drawing from a few days ago alone.  It just felt like he wasn't done yet.  Here he is in oil.

Inktober Day 25 Tired

I was going to draw myself for today, but decided I felt like I more represented the word "exhausted."  I have GOT to get some sleep.  However, the World Series is on tonight and that only comes around once a year so my slumber prospects look slim.

I feel this fellow that emerged from my pen is probably way more tired than I.

Expectations

I actually am so proud of this one.  I like how the pen reacted against the pastel/acrylic/marker, almost in a hiccuping type of way...hmm.  That sounds pretty strange, but it's the best way I can describe it.

I am a huge lover of color, but I think I like the starkness of ink of paper even more.

Necks Outstretched to Great Effect

Necks Outstretched to Great Effect

This baby hung around for quite some time, maybe a month or so.  I wasn't sure where I was headed with it until it told me.  I guess it was shy at first to make its appearance, but I'm quite in love with it now that it has fully revealed itself. (-;

Drawing Belmondo

My sleep habits are off, and no matter how hard I tried last night, I could NOT get to sleep.  Up I got, watched some Jean-Paul Belmondo, and sketched him out in charcoal until suddenly it was 3:30 a.m.

I added some paint to the background today, but decided to leave him in sketch form.  Somehow that just seemed right to me.

Doorway

This one is fairly large and loosely painted with acrylic paint, ink, and a long-handled brush.

I only have a smaller section of it displayed versus the actual size, because I couldn't get it all to fit into my camera shot.

18" x 24" on paper

A FB friend mentioned that it looked like a particular movie star.  I wasn't basing the painting on anyone in particular; I was just letting the brush move across the page.  At the last minute I enlarged the hook of the nose, and I think that touch changed his entire face.

Phyllis D's Pearly Whites

I had an art show today, and can I be honest?  I wasn't looking forward to it.  I knew it wasn't the right venue for me.  It was more a craft fair, and I can't compete in price with low-ticket items when I'm making original art that takes me hours, days, months to complete.  Anyway, I woke up at 1 a.m. and tossed and turned for an hour until I got up and painted this one.

O.k., I worked on it BEFORE I went to bed and then finished it in those wee hours.  It was a rough day and included two losses that I just cannot write about here.  Some things are too close to the heart, no?

Suffice it to say, I am drinking a Spanish wine as I type this and will be going to bed early.  I was also right about that craft fair, by the way.  But I did get a wonderful compliment towards the end of it which bolstered my artistic spirit.  My eyes feel heavy right now, unlike this lady's below.  Let's just focus on her joy, shall we?

Side-Glance

I had the urge to draw a little something before I went to bed Sunday.  I think it was my way of not letting the weekend go quite yet.  Of course, I ended up staying up too late and started Monday with my usual exhaustion.  What's a girl driven to draw to do?  Just draw, I guess...and be tired. Blue Bonnet

Experimenting tonight and ended up with something looking totally old school...as in the 19th century!  Not sure how it happened, but I don't try to question where my things begin or end...sometimes you don't want to be too inquisitive about mystery.

Modest Male

I love the entire nude I drew here, but jeepers creepers, I hesitate to post the entire thing (even though it's simply art) because even blogger stated last month it was going to give the boot to any blogs they deemed contained too provocative material.  They abandoned that plan, probably after threats of crossing First Amendment Rights, but I am still leery based on follow-up language and warnings. Isn't that so sad?  In America - a country based on free speech?  To quote Marvin Gaye, "What's goin' on?"  Anyway, I'm going to give my little male nude a bit of modesty.  If anyone wants to purchase this baby, you'll be getting the full monty! (-;

Here's the curtailed full view (on Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram as well) and following that is what I put on FB, because that social media seems to be getting more and more conservative.
