Headband

I toyed with the idea of drawing this man's left eye to perfectly match the right, but I liked the way it looked as if he were ominously moving forward--one eye closer to the viewer than the distant left.  I felt like he was coming our of a city tunnel or a hospital or a psych ward.  I sketched this quickly on a large shard of paper--all ink and dried out ink brush.

Tiny Mouth, Offcenter SOLD

Here was on of the pieces that I sold last night, but scrolling through my artwork to place a "SOLD" beside the post, I realized that I never posted it to my blog!  I created it back in June or July.  Here she is, and now she is off to a new home.

Inktober Day 5 SAD

I was trying to evoke sadness, here, with just black ink lines.  I think the eyes can help you create this man's story.  I don't need to tell it.

Falsies Forever

I'm posting my creations a bit out of order.  This one was from last month,  but I just wasn't posting to my blog for awhile.  Anyway, it's just a few weeks old.  I thought she was humorous. (-;

Side-Glance

I had the urge to draw a little something before I went to bed Sunday.  I think it was my way of not letting the weekend go quite yet.  Of course, I ended up staying up too late and started Monday with my usual exhaustion.  What's a girl driven to draw to do?  Just draw, I guess...and be tired. Floating Features - No longer Available

Floating Features

I wanted to keep this loose, off-center--to allow the eyes and the mind to fill in curves and angles.
To see something from the center, left, and right,
turning it around and around in order to open perception.

Blue Diamond Eyes (SOLD)

Here's a commissioned piece I did for my cool friend, Brandi (for her daughter), called "Blue Diamond Eyes."  It's based on a lyric from the Brett Eldredge song, "Beat of the Music" in which he sings: "I got hooked on a girl with blue diamond eyes down in Mexico." I don't listen to country music much, but I listened to this one over and over to get the feel. Hope you like it, too.

He's sending her hearts and she's sending him blue diamonds (eyes, not almonds).  Ah, ha, ha, ha! (-;
Is that quip falling flat?  Are you familiar with the brand "Blue Diamond Almonds?"  Eh, forget it. (-:

Day 269. The Eyes Have It

Um, I don't know what's going on here, but I can tell you, it's a lot!

I had a lot of fun playing around with this.  I'm going to dub it, "The Eyes Have It." (-;

Day 196. To See in Many Ways

This oil painting may be one of my all-time favorites.  I usually paint in acrylic or watercolor, but I also have some creamy oil paints, and again, because I had the leisure time over the holiday weekend, I was able to take my time and build this painting up.  I guess 10% is acrylic.  I smeared watered-down acrylic on the canvas and twirled the canvas around a few times and then stared into it.  To me, I could see eyes looking peering back at me so that's the direction I went in.

I took these pictures this a.m.  I think that the daylight did not do this painting a favor--I just don't think the rich colors of the oil paint are truly reflected here (does this get me off the hook for being a bad photographer-ha!).  I took the last image at a different angle/light.  You can also see how the oil paint is still wet.
