Apple Doodle aka Taking a Bite Out of the Big Apple

Here's a little apple doodle I did today...always trying to draw, you know?

It really is a drawing of the apple I was eating, but also, two of my friends, John and Maryanne, just got back from a road trip to NYC (thus the Big Apple reference).  Stay tuned, because before the month is out, I will tell you about this brush with fame John has been having with his painted pumpkins, and their appearance on both Good Morning America and tomorrow's, The Chew.
Pretty coolio.

Day 4 of 30 Eye to the Apple

Eye To The Apple

Philomena gave her apple a crunch
one bite down, a little snack to munch,
But something didn't seem quite right
with this red orb,
a sourness was afoot,
a strange flavor, that to this discerning lady, did very much off-put.

What a complete disappointment!
Her diet now had a gustatory fly in the ointment.
Was it a sign to eat a sugary sweet...
was her willpower really that desperately weak?

"No, I will persevere!
My tongue may already be accosted
my hunger irretrievably frosted,
but with my sight this problem I must grapple."
She raised her glove-covered arm and put her eye to the apple.

Day 307. Apple Cider Obsession

About a month ago, wait, I can tell you the exact date:  Sunday, September 22nd.  On that particular Sunday, I had such a hankering for some apple cider.   It was strange, because in the morning I woke up, opened my eyes, and in my first state of consciousness, two words popped into my mind--apple cider.  That's weird, I thought.

I continued with my day, but throughout it, the taste of apple cider would swirl in my brain and invade my begging taste buds.  We have a local farm stand--well, it's more than a farm stand--but anyway, we have one several towns over from where I live.  It's about a 15 minute drive through the country.  I knew they would be closing soon, but some long finger of autumn kept tapping me on my shoulder, apple cider, apple cider.  I finally relented, drove out to the farm stand 20 minutes before they closed, and purchased this fruity liquor (just a term, it's non-alcoholic (-:).  Once I got it home, it was gone within two days, and I haven't had a craving for it since.  What a bizarre occurrence, but I don't question these things.  I am a slave to the dictates of the season.

Finally, here is the painting I have held in my mind for some time.

Here are some other sightings from that day.

I see a thumbs up in this picture and a platypus!

Doesn't that gourd look like a swan or a goose looking behind itself?

I thought this pumpkin was hilarious--as if it were driving the cart itself.  I snapped a picture and a little girl said to her parents, "She took a picture of my pumpkin!"  She wasn't happy. ha!

I love the warty pumpkins, fabulous in their irregularities.

Safely in my car, home we go, cider man!

Some super expensive raw honey.

Just about to quench this urge!

Day 272. Interactive Portrait

In the spirit of the world's obsession with reality t.v., I invite you to participate in figuring out what is occurring in this painting.  Is our subject:

1)  Finding it hard to wake up?
2)  Performing a form of interpretive, modern dance?
3)  Shielding her eyes at her uneven make-up application?
4)  Looking at the mustard stain on the back of her strapless gown?
5)  Realizing that her new deodorant is sorely amiss?

Aha! ha! ha!  I could create a story for each, but I'll let you do that, dear, interactive reader.

Maybe this will help.  Here's the music I was listening to while I drew and painted:

1) Jack White:  "Love Interruption" in honor of that 22-year-old/Pittsburgh Apple employee/fabulously wonderful nerdy-glass wearing/last singer on "The Voice" tonight.  Loved him!  What!  Yes, it's true--I was watching reality t.v.  And you know what?  I just want to be outside at this concert, smelling someone's exhaled cigarette smoke, or some kind of smoke, on the cold air.  (-;

2) Amy Winehouse:  "Valerie"  Live
