Day 11 of 30. Companions - SOLD

I felt like using a different color palette, and my creamy, butterscotch background reminded me of my mom's entryway so I thought I would make this a grungier version.

I had toyed with leaning an umbrella up against the wall in my "Purple Door, Weathered Cobble" painting from a few days ago, but had decided against it.  That umbrella thought was still knocking at me so I granted its request and put it into this painting.  I was going to stop at the umbrella and couch, but I needed one more pop of color.  That's how the vase of pussy willows came to be.  And so, there you have it.

Day 4 of 30 Eye to the Apple

Eye To The Apple

Philomena gave her apple a crunch
one bite down, a little snack to munch,
But something didn't seem quite right
with this red orb,
a sourness was afoot,
a strange flavor, that to this discerning lady, did very much off-put.

What a complete disappointment!
Her diet now had a gustatory fly in the ointment.
Was it a sign to eat a sugary sweet...
was her willpower really that desperately weak?

"No, I will persevere!
My tongue may already be accosted
my hunger irretrievably frosted,
but with my sight this problem I must grapple."
She raised her glove-covered arm and put her eye to the apple.

Day 1 of 30 Hand Pie

I think I might be doing a painting a day for January.  See how definitive I am about this?  After doing a 365 painting/drawing a day in 2013, I am a little shy of any similar committment! You could do it yourself through Leslie Saeta who created it.  Anyway, since I've been baking a few pies lately, and a blackberry one today in particular (see my pie blog), I thought I'd use that event as inspiration for day 1.  I like to go all around the canvas, by the way. (-;

Here ya' go.  Hand pie!

I wasn't quite done when I took the 2 pics below, but you get the idea.
